Dance Vibe Mashup @ SBP Poplar

This 3-week Dance Vibe mini-series is a relaxed, judgement-free introduction to basic body articulations using the hips, ribcage and spine. Drop in for one or come for all three! Our progressive warmup will help us hone alignment and build functional strength before we move into some playful, low-impact choreography. Rather than pursuing a specific look or style, this workshop uses dance to help you feel good in your body, explore your individual expression, and celebrate who you are. Sign up solo or with friends, move your body in ways you didn’t know you could, and have fun doing it with a great community of people!

Week 1: Free your hips

Week 2: Free your ribcage

Week 3: Free your spine

All levels welcome. Attendance at all three sessions recommended but not required. Participants should bring water and wear comfortable clothing that allows full range of motion. No shoes necessary. 

Workshop is free with entry to the gym. Non-members get full access to gym facilities and the regular rotation of yoga and fitness classes.


Meet Your Instructor: Ourah grew up with Chinese dance and music, performed with a Modern dance company in college, and studied a range of Afro-diasporic dance and music in the academic classroom as well as the studio. After school, she performed with an African music and dance studio in New Mexico and an Afro-Brazilian dance company in Brazil before eventually studying Chinese medicine and meditative movement in China. She integrates her expertise in health with her background in the arts to help people steward their own wellness and live vibrantly with balance and ease. @ouraharts
